Staff Pathologist position at the VAMC at Syracuse NY

The VA Medical Center in Syracuse, New York is recruiting for a full-time BC/BE staff pathologist to begin at or near 16Apr2005. The VA Medical Facility at Syracuse is a 200 bed acute care and transitional health care facility that is a part of the VA Health Care Network of Upstate NY. The site at Syracuse serves the health care needs of 34,000 veterans through our Syracuse based facility and multiple community based outpatient clinics. This VA facility is affiliated with the State University of New York-Upstate Medical University at Syracuse and the successful applicant is eligible for a faculty appointment. In addition, we are also responsible for the medical supervision of the VA medical laboratories at Canandaigua, Bath and Rochester NY (68 FTEE with approximately 2.2 million tests/year).

The successful applicant will:
· Be AP/CP board certification or board eligibility,
· Be competency in cytopathology; (ability to interpret liquid based uterine cervical cytology preparations is desired)
· Have good interpersonal skills,
· Have administrative ability for anatomical pathology,
· Possess clinical skill and participate in our FNA biopsy service,
· Show a commitment and ability to teach,
· Participate in clinicopathologic conferences,
· Participate in special administrative tasks for our laboratory, facility and network,
· Show an interest in medical research.
